Trips Abroad Up by More Than 11% in November Y/Y
In November, the number of trips of Bulgarian residents abroad was 638,600, or 11.3% up from November 2023, said the National Statistical Institute on Friday.
Most trips of Bulgarian residents were made to Turkiye (193,200), Greece (109,300), Serbia (68,500), Romania (64,300), Germany (32,700), Italy (21,800), Austria (20,600), Republic of North Macedonia (19,300), the United Kingdom (18,600), Spain (13,8).
Trips for other purposes formed the greatest share of the total number of trips of Bulgarian residents abroad - 48.3%, followed by those for holiday and recreation purposes - 28.5%, and for professional purposes - 23.2%.
In November, the number of visits of foreigners to Bulgaria was 711,900, or 2.5% more in comparison with the same month of the previous year.
Аn increase was registered in the trips for professional purposes - by 9.3%, and with holiday and recreation purposes - by 7.7%, while those for other purposes decreased by 2.7%. Transit passes through were 37.8% (269,400) of all visits of non-residents to Bulgaria.
The share of visits of ЕU citizens was 47.2% of the total number of non-residents’ visits to Bulgaria and reached 336,200, the largest being by visitors from Romania - 42.7%, and Greece - 25%.
The visits of non-residents from other European countries were 311,600, or 43.8% of all visits to Bulgaria. The highest registered number of visits was from Turkiye – 157,400, or 50.5% in this group.
Most visits to Bulgaria were from Turkiye – 157,400, Romania – 143,600, Greece – 84,000, Ukraine – 53,700, Serbia – 52,900, Republic of North Macedonia – 31,900, Germany – 27,100, Italy – 16,100, Poland – 11,200, the United Kingdom – 9,500.
The predominant share of the visits was for other purposes - 49.7%, followed by trips for holiday and recreation purposes - 31.5%, and for professional purposes - 18.8%.
