The most preferred routes during holidays and vacations have been announced

The Bursa-Istanbul route was the most preferred route in intercity bus travel in 2024. While the density did not change during holidays and semester breaks, Istanbul and Ankara were at the top of the most traveled cities.

According to Kamil Koç, who announced the intercity bus travel figures for 2024 and important periods of the year, the most preferred route last year was Bursa-Istanbul. These were followed by Ankara-Istanbul and Istanbul-Ankara. Bursa-Istanbul also ranked first as the most preferred route by passengers during Ramadan and Eid al-Adha. While the favorite route for the Semester Break was Ankara-Istanbul, the most traveled cities in 2024 were Istanbul, Ankara, Bursa, Izmir and Eskişehir.

The top three most preferred routes include megacity Istanbul

According to Kamil Koç’s annual data covering the period of January 1-December 31, 2024, the route used most by passengers throughout the year was Bursa-Istanbul. This was followed by Ankara-Istanbul and Istanbul-Ankara routes. The rest of the list, where megacity Istanbul is also included in the three most preferred routes of the year, is as follows; Istanbul-Bursa, Bursa-Ankara, Istanbul-Izmir, Izmir-Istanbul, Ankara-Bursa, Ankara-Izmir and Kayseri-Ankara.

The favorite route of the year did not change during Ramadan and Eid al-Adha

The favorite route that carried the most passengers in 2024 did not change during Ramadan and Eid al-Adha. Bursa-Istanbul was the most used route by passengers on both holidays. The top 10 most preferred routes for the Ramadan Feast, which covers the dates of April 9-12, are as follows: Bursa-Istanbul, which ranked first, was followed by Istanbul-Ankara, Ankara-Istanbul, Istanbul-Bursa, Istanbul-Izmir, Bursa-Ankara, Ankara-Bursa, Izmir-Ankara, Ankara-Izmir and Izmir-Istanbul, respectively.

The favorite route of the year, Bursa-Istanbul, ranked first for the Eid al-Adha holiday, which covers the dates of June 15-19. This was followed by the following routes, in order; Istanbul-Bursa, Istanbul-Ankara, Ankara-Istanbul, Istanbul-Izmir, Bursa-Ankara, Ankara-Izmir, Ankara-Bursa, Izmir-Ankara and Bursa-Eskişehir.

The favorite route for the Semester Break was Ankara-Istanbul

The Ankara-Istanbul route was the most preferred during the Semester Break, which is one of the periods when passenger movement is highest along with the holidays. During the holiday period covering January 22-February 2, 2024, the largest number of passengers were transported between the capital Ankara and the megacity Istanbul. This was followed by the following routes, respectively; Bursa–Istanbul, Istanbul–Ankara, Istanbul–Bursa, Karabük–Ankara, Ankara–Adana, Bursa–Ankara, Istanbul–Izmir, Ankara–Bursa and Eskişehir–Ankara.
