Radisson RED opens on the Danube Canal in Vienna
The new design-led Radisson RED hotel commands an enviable position on the edge of Vienna’s Leopoldstadt district.
Radisson RED’s first hotel in Austria, this new-build property will draw guests in with its stylish design and exciting new social venues including Istros rooftop bar.
A landmark building
The brand-new, full-service Radisson RED Vienna is now welcoming guests into a new landmark building pairing a white metal structure with gold-tinted windows and a rooftop glasshouse.
Ideal for both business and leisure travellers, the property provides easy access to the city’s main station, business hubs and airport, as well as the historic sites, music venues, restaurants and shops Vienna is known for.
Commenting on the opening, Yilmaz Yildirilmar, area senior vice president in Central and Eastern Europe at Radisson Hotel Group, said: “We’re taking a cool, flexible, contemporary approach to hospitality at Radisson RED Vienna. Professional and sociable, our young and energetic hotel team invites guests to do what works best for them, without unnecessary formalities.”
“The hotel reflects its location and the young, hip surroundings with the buzzing nightlife on the Danube Canal: from its lobby, restaurant and courtyard, to the sensational rooftop bar, it fits right into the vibrant local social scene.”
Yildirimlar added: “Vienna with all its history, music and art is the perfect city for the debut of our Radisson RED brand in the German-speaking market.”
“This hotel’s unique architecture and interior design, the sensational rooftop and a team that delivers great hospitality ‘with a twist’, as we say, is setting the scene for more Radisson RED openings to follow across the region, and will surely become a fixture in the Viennese hotel market.”
Designed for guests and locals
The hotel houses a total of 179 rooms and suites with distinct interiors featuring large bay windows, paintings with red highlights and exposed-concrete ceilings.
The greenhouse-like structure topping the building is the setting for Istros rooftop bar and its terrace cantilevering over the floor below. In a space fusing the indoors and outdoors and commanding panoramic views, locals and guests can enjoy expertly crafted cocktails, wines and spirits and beers on tap, as well as barista coffees.
Sarai restaurant is then located on the hotel’s ground floor. The social hub of the hotel, Sarai encompasses a bar, lounge and co-working space as well as the restaurant serving Silk Road inspired dishes from East Asia, India, the Middle East and Europe.
In warmer weather, guests can also sit out in the inner courtyard with alfresco dining beneath a giant mural by Viennese visual artist, David Leitner. Additional amenities throughout include a fully-equipped meeting room with natural light and boardroom with video-conferencing technology.
