Mevlana Museum, where the tomb of Sufi and Islamic thinker Mevlana Celaleddin-i Rumi is located, welcomed 3 million 48 thousand 55 visitors in 2024.

Mevlana Museum, which attracts tourists from all over the world every year in line with Mevlana's call of "Come, no matter who you are", increased its number of visitors from 2 million 918 thousand 280 in 2023 to 129 thousand 775 in 2024.

Mevlana Museum, affiliated with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, attracted 3 million 48 thousand 55 visitors last year.

The museum, which is visited by many local and foreign tourists throughout the year within the scope of cultural and religious tourism, contains nearly 10 thousand works.

"It ranks first among museums affiliated with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism"

Mehmet Yünden, Deputy Provincial Director of Culture and Tourism, told AA correspondent that Mevlana is one of the most recognized values in the world.

Yünden, who stated that the interest of local and foreign visitors to the museum is increasing day by day, said, "Mevlana Museum ranks first among museums affiliated with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism with 3 million 48 thousand visitors. We, as a city, continue our efforts to do justice to this." Yünden stated that when visitors to the museum look at their countries, they see the universality of Mevlana.

"Those who come from countries we have never heard of create different feelings in us"

Emphasizing that when it comes to Mevlana, the entire world is the target audience in tourism, Yünden said:

"One of the countries that shows the most interest is Iran. Recently, we have been receiving serious visitors from the United Arab Emirates, the Middle East and the Gulf countries. There is also tremendous interest from Muslims in the West. In other words, we cannot say that more visitors come from this region. In this respect, the Mevlana Museum and its destination have no similarity. Those who come from small countries we have never heard of, from Africa to the Far East, create different feelings in us." Stating that Turkey is making a big move in tourism, Yünden said that it is very meaningful to make this progress in tourism at a time when wars are taking place in some regions of the world.

Yünden, who pointed out that this showed how strong Turkey's tourism infrastructure is, said, "We need to stand out by increasing international cultural activities in the city in 2025. We aim to keep the city's awareness fresh and at a high level within the scope of the Sufi Cinema Days, Mystical Music Festival and International Mevlana Commemoration Days to be held here."
