In the second quarter; which is April, May and June months of 2024, 16 million 148 thousand residents had domestic trips. Domestic trips with one or more than one overnights, increased by 23.3% compared to the same quarter of the previous year and reached 19 million 830 thousand trips. In this quarter, domestic visitors made 118 million 258 thousand overnights. Average number of overnights was 6.

Domestic visitors spent 103 billion 114 million 141 thousand TL
In this quarter, trip expenditures of domestic tourists increased by 115.8% compared to same quarter of previous year and reached to 103 billion 114 million 141 thousand TL. In this quarter, while 90% of domestic tourism expenditure was individual with 92 billion 772 million 553 thousand TL, 10% of it was package tour expenditures with 10 billion 341 million 588 thousand TL. Average expenditure per trip was 5 thousand 200 TL.

When the distribution of expenditure types in total travel expenditures are analyzed in this quarter, it is seen that the expenditure types which have the highest shares were eating and drinking expenditures with 33.1%, transportation expenditures with 27.3% and accommodation expenditures with 14.1%. According to rate of change of trip expenditures compared to same quarter of the previous year, it was observed that there were increases of 117.1% in eating and drinking expenditures, 123% in transportation expenditures and 112.2% in accommodation expenditures.

Primary purpose of trip was "visiting relatives" with 62.4%
The secondary purpose of trip was "travel, leisure, vacation" with 31.6% and the third was "health" with 2.7%.

Domestic visitors stayed mostly at house of friend or relative
In this quarter, according to number of overnights by type of accommodation, domestic visitors stayed mostly at "house of friend or relative" with 86 million 604 thousand overnights. While "own house" took second place with 13 million 925 thousand overnights, "hotel" took third place with 10 million 308 thousand overnights.
