Hong Kong's cruise tourism is showing signs of a robust recovery, with an increase in cruise arrivals and passenger numbers, announced Rosanna Law Shuk-pui, Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism, on Sunday.

The tourism chief stated that the cruise "Spectrum of the Seas," which docked at Kai Tak Cruise Terminal today, has completed eight trips during the season with Hong Kong as a home port.

She highlighted that the cruise company plans to increase the number of trips departing from Hong Kong this year, with around 5,000 passengers boarding for journeys to Japan, Vietnam, or Shanghai each trip.

In further positive news, Law mentioned that starting in April, the mainland cruise ship “Piano Land” will also use Hong Kong as its home port. This ship is set to offer nearly 70 cruise trips annually and is anticipated to attract about 80,000 tourists each year.

Law emphasized the promising recovery of the cruise industry and stated that the government is committed to leading the sector in enhancing Hong Kong's appeal as a prime cruise destination. She encouraged local businesses to capitalize on this growing opportunity to draw more customers.
