Bodrum Mayor Tamer Mandalinci went to Ankara and made high-level contacts regarding the Turgutreis Coast Guard Port Project, which is considered to harm the city due to its location and has drawn the reaction of the people of Bodrum.

Mayor Tamer Mandalinci, who made contacts in Ankara, made a series of visits regarding the Turgutreis Coast Guard Port Project. Mayor Mandalinci first met with the Republican People's Party Chairman Özgür Özel in his office in the Turkish Grand National Assembly. In the meeting, which was also attended by CHP Muğla Deputy Süreyya Öneş Derici, reservations regarding the project, and the sensitivities of citizens and civil society organizations were expressed. In the meeting, where the work done in Bodrum was also evaluated, solution proposals were presented regarding the needs and current problems of Bodrum.

Mayor Mandalinci, who also met with Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdülkadir Uraloğlu in his office, shared that a consensus was reached with civil society organizations, tourism professionals and citizens that the location of the Turgutreis Coast Guard Port Project was not suitable. President Mandalinci also conveyed the demands for the project to be stopped and a more suitable location to be selected to Minister Uraloğlu.

“We conveyed the reactions of our people and tourism professionals regarding the Coast Guard Port Project planned to be built in Turgutreis to Ankara. In addition to our contacts in Ankara, we also informed our President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who came to Muğla, about the issue. I think we ensured that the demands and expectations of our people were heard at the highest level during the information we provided during the welcome at Dalaman Airport. We are not completely against the project, but the current location selection needs to be re-evaluated. We will continue our efforts with determination to solve this problem.”
