230.2 million passengers used airports in Turkey in 2024
Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu announced that 230 million 224 thousand 611 passengers, including direct transit passengers, used airports in Turkey in 2024.
Minister Uraloğlu evaluated the airline aircraft, passenger and cargo data of the General Directorate of State Airports Authority (DHMI) in his written statement.
Uraloğlu reported that a total of 169 thousand 473 aircraft traffic was reached with overflights, 66 thousand 642 in domestic lines and 57 thousand 738 in international lines in December 2024, and stated that there was a 3.7 percent increase in domestic lines and 7.3 percent increase in international lines in the said period compared to December 2023.
Uraloğlu drew attention to the fact that the number of passengers last month was 7 million 84 thousand 852 on domestic lines and 8 million 470 thousand 630 on international lines, and said, "A total of 15 million 562 thousand 646 people were served, including direct transit passengers. There was an 8.2 percent increase in the number of passengers compared to the same month in 2023." Minister Uraloğlu reported that the amount of cargo carried at airports reached a total of 380 thousand 913 tons last month, 65 thousand 111 tons on domestic lines and 315 thousand 802 tons on international lines.

Uraloğlu stated that the number of aircraft landing and taking off in 2024 data was 902 thousand 78 on domestic lines and 866 thousand 779 on international lines, and shared the following information:
"We reached a total of 2 million 290 thousand 581 aircraft traffic, including overflights. The aircraft traffic served increased by 5.5 percent compared to 2023. While 95 million 293 thousand 38 passengers were served on domestic lines and 134 million 694 thousand 726 passengers were served on international lines in one year, a total of 230 million 224 thousand 611 passengers used our airports, including direct transit passengers. There was a 7.5 percent increase in total passenger traffic compared to 2023." Uraloğlu, who reported that the amount of freight and cargo carried at airports during this period was 917 thousand 816 tons in domestic lines and 4 million 23 thousand 913 tons in international lines, drew attention to the fact that this number increased by 11.1 percent compared to the previous year and was 4 million 941 thousand 729 tons.

Minister Uraloğlu emphasized that domestic aircraft traffic reached 8 thousand 650 and international traffic reached 33 thousand 920, totaling 42 thousand 570 last month at Istanbul Airport, one of Turkey's mega projects.

Uraloğlu stated that a total of 517,285 aircraft traffic was carried out at Istanbul Airport in a year, 117,764 in domestic lines and 399,521 in international lines, and noted the following:
"A total of 79,988,272 passengers were served, 17,89,191 in domestic lines and 62,899,81 in international lines. There was a 5 percent increase in total passenger traffic compared to the previous year."
"Passenger traffic increased at Sabiha Gökçen Airport"
Stating that a total of 21,467 aircraft traffic took place at Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport in December 2024, 9,219 in domestic lines and 12,248 in international lines, Uraloğlu said, "Passenger traffic was 1 million 573 thousand 258 in domestic lines and 2 million 2 thousand 567 in international lines, totaling 3 million 575 thousand 825. Passenger traffic increased by 15 percent compared to the same month in 2023." Minister Uraloğlu stated that a total of 242,345 aircraft traffic took place at this airport in one year, 110,677 in domestic flights and 131,668 in international flights, and that a total of 41,482,901 passengers were served, 19,509,605 in domestic flights and 21,973,296 in international flights, thus increasing the passenger traffic served last year by 13 percent compared to the previous year. Uraloğlu stated that 2,387 aircraft traffic took place at Istanbul Atatürk Airport, where general aviation activities continue, in December 2024, and pointed out that this number reached 28,230 in one year.

While a total of 4,375,662 passengers were served at Milas-Bodrum Airport, a total of 1,051,608 passengers were served at Gazipaşa Alanya Airport."
